Artist's Comment: This painting is taken from a photo out of my grandmother's yearbook from the Stewart Indian School. Here some young Native women learning the correct methods of ironing. I liked the way the women are arranged in rows and the way the paint was applied without lots of mixing or detail. Her yearbook said this was the Lela Wala Club. A woman bought this from me at a show, but I lost her name! |
