DECKER, Marilyn Theresa (Hawley) nee Derbyshire Born to Frank B. Hawley and Florence Vina Hawley on August 3, 1927. She died on October 3, 2007 while visiting her son Pastor Robert Decker in San Tee, California. The Devil got tired of waiting and so God called her home. Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Vina Hawley, two brothers James and Frank Hawley, three sisters, Rosemary Wilkie, Vina May Kading, Cecilia Koether. Marilyn married James R Derbyshire (deceased) in 1946 and ended their marriage ten years later. They had six children; Rita Jean Derbyshire (deceased), Mary Ellen Duclos, spouse Larry, Richard B Derbyshire (deceased), James L Derbyshire, spouse Penny, Denyce V Hall, spouse Peter and a infant son Donald whom died at birth. Marilyn met and married George Francis Decker. They had four children, Robert James Decker, spouse Leslie, Linda Susan Aitken, spouse Gary, Francis Eugene Decker (deceased), and Thomas Allen Decker, spouse Carrie. George Francis Decker died in 1984. She remained living in the Spokane area until 1996. She then moved to Kellogg, Idaho to be near her son James and his wife Penny Derbyshire. Marilyn was a Graduate of Mary Cliff High School where she was she was an avid participant in Basketball, Volleyball, Latin Club, Glee Club, Orchestra, Apologetics and Creative Writing to name just a few. After her children were grown, Marilyn attended college in Utah and Oregon where she earned her degree as a Substance Abuse Counselor. She went on to work as a counselor for Native Americans as what was then called "Tepee Lodge" in Spokane, Washington. Marilyn was a member of the Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes. She was born in Wolf Point Montana. During the 1970's, Marilyn was also a member of then Govenor Dixie Lee Ray's Drug and Advisory Committee. She traveled the United States as a speaker and counselor for several years. Mrs. Decker was an active member of the Native American Community in Spokane for many years. In 1981, Marilyn was chosen as the Spokane Inland Empire "Mother of the Year" in association with the Spokane Lilac Festival. She joined the Marine Corp auxiliary of became active in the Toy's for Tots program. Marilyn retired with her husband Francis Decker in the Spokane Valley. She enjoyed reading, writing poetry; she loved the outdoors and loved to fish and camp. Marilyn loved to swim all of her life and as a young Woman, won many awards as well as being chosen to go to the Olympic tryouts. Unfortunately, the beginning of W.W.2. ended that dream. Marilyn loved her family and was proud of each and every one of them. She leaves behind 25 Grandchildren, 25 Great-Grandchildren and one unborn Great-Great-Grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews and loving extended family and friends. She loved all of us the "Mostest". " Roses' in your Pillow Mamma. Memorial Mass at 12:00PM on Oct 13, 2007 at 19325 E. Main, Green acres, WA - Father Connolly will be officiating. Funeral Services will held at 2:00 PM at the North Country Chapel - 2281 W. Seltice Way, Post Falls, Ida - Pastor Robert Decker will be officiating. Celebration of Life dinner to follow at the home of Steve and Angela Long, 19325 E Main, Greenacres, WA 99016.
