Bernard J. Clark, 88, of 934 West Third St., died at home on June 23, 2008.

He was born in Williamsport on June 6, 1920 a son of Michael E. and Kathryn Amann Clark.

Bernie was a 1938 graduate of the former St. Joseph’s High School, a member of the Annunciation Church where he volunteered in the Parish Hall kitchen for over 20 years and the retired firefighters.

Bernie started with the Williamsport Fire Department in 1941 and served as a firefighter for over 34 years retiring in 1976.

He was a US Navy veteran of WWII having served from 1944 until 1946 in the South Pacific.

He and his wife the former Albina Matty were married in Drexel Hill in 1941 and would have celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary this year.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Terrence E. (Teresa) Clark, Stephen D. (Leanna) Clark all of Williamsport, John P. Clark of Elkton, MD, ten grandchildren Mary (Jeffrey) Pelly, Michael E. Clark, Susan (Shawn) McGehean, Thomas M. Clark, Kathleen (Jesse) Taylor, Christopher J. (Laura) Clark, Jena (Stephen) Shebazion, Kathryn Shane) Loudenslager, Patricia (Brian) Paulhamus, John S. Clark, ten great grandchildren and a sister Rita Gorman Judy of Franklin, PA.

Bernard was preceded in death by two sons Michael and Patrick and a brother Msgr. Eugene Clark.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Annunciation Church, 702 West Fourth St. 10 am Thursday with his pastor, Rev. John K. Manno officiating.

Friends may call at the Crouse Funeral Home 133 E. 3rd St. from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday evening with a vigil service at 8:30 p.m.

Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Annunciation Church, 711 West Edwin St. Williamsport, PA 17701 or St. Anthony’s Center, 125 East Willow St. Williamsport, PA 17701.
