WOLF POINT - Earline "Toni" Mitchell (Indian name Clear Water), passed away on October 15, 1999 at Wolf Point, MT from a battle of cancer.
Bom in Hustonia, MO, on June 23, 1936 to Lila Marie and Earl Victor Knowles. She was the youngest of four children. She grew up in Missouri and moved to Lawton, OK, where she met and married William "Billy Ray" Mitchell. With her husband William, making the military life, she followed him all over the country. When William retired from the Army, they made their home in Tacoma, WA until November of 1998, they moved to Wolf Point, MT, where Toni resided at the time of her death.
Toni was well known for her beadwork, medicine bags, and ribbon shirts. Her ribbon shirts have been sold all over the world. She was partners in a store Wild Indian Two with adopted sister and friend Mary Vangi in Tacoma, WA. She traveled the state of Washington following the pow-wows. The last few years, Toni and her husband would return to
Wolf Point for the Wadopana Celebration.
She is survived by her loving husband William Mitchell, of Wolf Point; her daughter Lisa Woods and husband Menear, from MO; brother Arthur Knowles and wife Ann from AZ; granddaughter Kelly Lynn and Stephanie Nichole from Tacoma, WA; adopted daughter Jodi Brooks, of Tacoma, WA, Lorrie Wallwork from Spokane, WA, adopted sister Mary Vangi; sister-in-law Lucy Redekopp and husband Lee, Jessica Mitchell husband Robert and sister-in-law Mary Alice Martin.
Toni is preceded in death by her son Michael Ray, parents and her sister Pat.
Toni touched so many people's hearts throughout her life and many friends, too many to mention. Her greatest wish in life was to help other people, especially young people and made this a life long commitment.
Traditional services were held Tuesday, October 19, 1999 at the Clayton Memorial Chapel at Wolf Point, MT., with cremation after the services.

Earline married William Ray aka Billy Mitchell, son of Theodore Roosevelt Mitchell and Rose B. Moran Mitchell. (William Ray aka Billy Mitchell was born on 31 Mar 1935 and died on 7 Oct 2001 in Wolf Point, Montana.). The cause of his death was Cancer.
